Dick Miller

Born in New York in 1928, Dick came west in the early 50's to make the big time as a writer...instead he met Roger Corman.
"I'm a writer. Need any scripts?" sez Dick
Roger sez "No. I've got scripts. I need actors"
So Dick sez "Fine. I'm an actor"

After working on a few cowboys and indians flicks fer Roger, Dick played door to ddor vacuum cleaner salesman and alien fodder in Corman's sci-fi opus NOT OF THIS EARTH. Throughout the 50's, Dick created a whole mess of kooky bit parts fer Roger, appearing in AIP drive-in goodies like IT CONQUERED THE WORLD, THE UNDEAD, SORORITY GIRL and THE WASP WOMAN. In 1959, Roger finally cast Dick in a leading role. The film was Corman's most cut-rate and quickest movie to date - shot in 5 days for a measly $50, 000. The film is, of course, A BUCKET OF BLOOD - a beatnik black comedy and one of Roger's best. Dick steals the show as dim-witted busboy turned artist Walter Paisley...a character Dick would continue to play from time to time.
Miller has never slowed down and his career reads like a virtual road map of American trash cinema including such exploitation classics as THE TRIP, BIG BAD MAMA, HOLLYWOOD BOULEVARD, CANDY STRIPE NURSES, PIRAHNA and ROCK AND ROLL HIGH SCHOOL. Which is why we here at the TFO are proud to proclaim "WE LOVE DICK!"
