HOUSE ON THE EDGE OF THE PARK
Italian
1979
Directed by Ruggero Deodato (aka Roger D. Franklin)

There have been some deeply misanthropic pictures in the last thirty years, from LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT to every film by Todd Solondz, but nothing that approaches the sheer nihilism of this nasty little piece of work...no excuses, no rationalizations, just pure black SLEAZE from the nice folks who brought you CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST.

A psychopath rapist (David Hess from LAST HOUSE) and his simpering friend (played by the amazing John Morghen from GATES OF HELL) invite themselves to a dinner party given by a bunch of fruity rich bastards and their creepy girlfriends...where they are taunted and humiliated - and cheated at cards...

Pretty soon, Hess goes into Last House Freak Mode and everyone goes to hell...

...and then the little boy dies after being stung by bees and it's a life lesson for the little girl. A heart-warming, feel-good family picture in the tradition of SALO: 120 DAYS OF SODOM.
